Community Reporters Visit the BBC
A group of Community Reporters, including a number from East Manchester, visited the BBC last week and went behind the scenes of North West Tonight: The BBC's flagship regional news programme for the North West.Following a tour of the BBC newsroom the group got to watch the programme going out live from the gallery and the studio floor.Presenter Gordon Burns stayed behind after the show to talk the group through his role as a presenter.Philip Johnson, Lead Scheduler & ITC at BBC North West, said "It was a pleasure to show your enthusiastic students around.".A further series of sessions, led by Jim Clarke newsgathering editor for North West Tonight, are running this week covering the basics of journalism.
